The President Obama today declared a major tragedy exists in the State of Arkansas and prepared centralized aid to addition state and local recovery efforts in the area affected by a harsh winter storm during the period of December 25-26, 2012.
Federal funding is available to state and entitled local governments and convinced private nonprofit association on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the revamp or replacement of amenities damaged by the severe winter storm in the region of Garland, Grant, Hot Spring, Lonoke, Perry, Pulaski, and Saline.
Federal funding is also obtainable on a cost-sharing basis for hazard alleviation measures statewide.
W. Craig Fugate, Administrator, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Department of Homeland Security, named Sandy Coachman as the centralized Coordinating Officer for federal revival operations in the affected area.
FEMA said additional description may be made at a later date if appeal by the state and warranted by the results of additional damage assessments.
